The IEEE Student Branch at Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) is one of the most vibrant and active student branches in the IEEE Madras Section. Founded with the mission of bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world technology, the branch serves as a platform for students to explore, innovate, and excel in their respective engineering disciplines. With over 200+ student members across six specialized technical societies, CIT Chennai IEEE SB organizes workshops, hackathons, technical talks, paper presentations, and industry visits throughout the year. We are committed to the IEEE’s core vision of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity nurturing leaders who are technically sound, ethically grounded, and globally connected. Our branch actively collaborates with industry professionals, IEEE senior members, and academia to deliver impactful learning experiences. Our Chapters
Six specialized IEEE societies operate under CIT’s student branch, each focusing on cutting-edge domains of engineering and technology.

| Focuses on wireless communications, signal processing, 5G/6G networks, optical fiber, and satellite communications. Organizes spectrum workshops and antenna design sessions. |
| 2. Electron Devices Society (EDS) |
| Dedicated to semiconductor devices, VLSI design, nanotechnology, photonics, and microelectronics. Conducts hands-on chip design and fabrication awareness programs. |
| 3. Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) |
| Explores neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary computation, machine learning, and AI. Hosts data science challenges, ML bootcamps, and AI paper reading clubs. |
| 4. Power Electronics Society (PELS) |
| Covers power converters, renewable energy systems, EV technology, smart grids, and energy storage. Partners with solar and EV industries for live project exposure. |
| 5. Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBS) |
| Bridges engineering and healthcare through biomedical signal processing, medical imaging, wearable health tech, and bioelectronics. Collaborates with hospitals for real-world case studies |
