Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CAM), a pioneering institution at the forefront of innovation in the realm of 3D printing and advanced manufacturing technologies. The CAM envisions a future in which additive manufacturing technologies revolutionize production, leading to significant breakthroughs in various industries. This is a special establishment to carry out R&D projects for Industries. Students from first year onwards are engaged in this centre on various projects in R&D and numerical simulation. A strong basic on physics and mathematics is being imparted to the students for creating the ability among the students to be inducted into the project. Interactions with experts from IITs, NITs and Industries are arranged to train the students through this centre.

The CAM is dedicated to conducting research in the field of additive manufacturing (AM), with a particular emphasis on metal and polymer materials. The Centre aims to develop new AM technologies, improve existing technologies, explore the applications of AM in various industries and also do collaborative works with various national and international institutes and industries. The Centre is working on improving the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of existing AM technologies. The Centre is exploring the applications of AM in various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, and consumer goods. The CAM has made a significant impact on the field of AM in India. The Centre has published numerous research papers in reputed journals, presented at national and international conferences. The Centre has also collaborated with a number of companies to develop AM applications for their products.

OBJECTIVES

Our main aim is to be a catalyst for revolutionary change by delivering comprehensive education, cutting-edge research, and supporting collaborative ventures in additive manufacturing.

  • Build an international team of experts for collaborative Additive Manufacturing research.
  • Create complex 3D parts unattainable through traditional manufacturing.
  • Foster innovation within the Institutional environment, providing hands-on experience with 3D Scanners, Printers, CAD packages, and Additive Manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate education and research, emphasizing the principles of “Design for Additive Manufacturing” and comparing AM with conventional methods.

GOALS

  • Provide hands-on experience with desktop AM machines and real-world applications.
  • Overcome AM adoption barriers, including surface quality, accuracy, speed, materials, and computation.
  • Secure international funding for research equipment and infrastructure.
  • Establish a pool of renowned international experts.
  • Collaborate on research with national and international bodies.
  • Create research opportunities for CIT students, scholars, and faculty in Additive Manufacturing.
  • Offer short- and long-term courses in relevant research areas and tools.
  • Support CIT in joint research programs with international universities.
  • Host an annual International Conference on Advanced Materials and Manufacturing
